American singer and songwriter Akon recently signed a deal to become owner of a city named after him.
Posting on his instagram page, Akon wrote “Just finalized the agreement for Akon City in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future.”
The American artiste had made pledges to invest in tourism in his native country, Senegal, this is according to announcements made by government officials.
The American singer signed a deal with SAPCO, the state-owned tourism company.

It was made known by SAPCO’s secretary-general, Alioune Ndiaye, that the deal the singer signed was only a memorandum of understanding.
It is also reported that the city would run on his crytocurrency Akoin.
