Outrage As Lebanese Puts Nigerian For Sale On Facebook

There was Outrage on social media as a Lebanese, identified as Wael Jerro, put up for sale on Facebook, a citizen of Nigeria.

Jerro, a resident in Beirut, Lebanon, put up the passport information of the victim, Busari Peace, on a Facebook group, ‘Buy and Sell in Lebanon’.

He wrote on the post, “Domestic worker from Nigeria for sale with new legal documents. She’s 30 years old, she’s very active and very clean. Price: $1,000.”

The incident was brought to the notice of Nigerians and the Nigerian Government by an Instagram user identified as @thereneeabisaad, adding the lady might be a victim of trafficking.

“I have reported to the Nigerian embassy. Please do the same if you know anyone in the Nigerian embassy in Lebanon,” her post read in part.

Reacting to this, the Chairman, Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, while confirming in the incident, said the relevant authorities have been notified.

In her words, “A manhunt is on for the man and an all-out search for the young girl. Let’s keep her in our prayers.”
