A datasheet tells you a great deal, but only if you read it in the right order. This is the order.
Start with the demo, not the description
Spend ten minutes in the live demo doing the thing your business actually does every day. If that flow is awkward, no feature list will save it.
Read the subscores, not just the total
An 88 made of strong security and weak tests is a very different purchase from an 88 with the reverse. Test coverage you can add; a broken authorisation model you cannot, cheaply.
Check the changelog for gaps
Steady releases mean a maintained project. An eight-month silence followed by a dependency bump usually means the seller has moved on.
Match the stack to your people
The best project in a language nobody on your team reads is the wrong project. Buy what your developers — or your AI tool of choice — can extend comfortably.
Confirm the licence covers your plan
If you intend to deploy it for several clients, you need Extended. Sorting this before purchase is far easier than after.
